The winding machine is designed for the production of capacitor rings. Two metallic films are wound over each other onto a fast rotating winding reel.
In a follow-up operating process, the capacitor rings are separated into individual, defined segments – the actual capacitors – in a cutting machine.

Principle

The capacitor films each have an opposite facing non-metallic free margin. The films are wound off the supply reels by a brake motor, and are each wound onto the winding reel via an angle sensor, two air guides and a pressure roller. A specific torque is applied to the angle sensors, and the brake motor is controlled in such a manner that the film tension and torque balance each other out. The air guides guide the films laterally and cause them to float on a cushion of air. Once the winding process has been completed, both ends of the capacitor ring are metallised.

 

Offset check

The films must be positioned over one another with minimum offset. The position of the films is registered by image processing. Offset is detected before the winding process and corrected via film guides.
